Our history

Since the construction of the cement plant in Apiaí, in 1967, we’ve taken a successful path based on the generation of economic, social and environmental value.

1967

InterCement was established and the works of Apiaí production unit and Serrinha mine started.

1974

Apiaí plant started its operations

Installed production capacity:

0,8 milion tons/year

1991

Inauguration of the second production line of Apiaí

Installed production capacity:

1,3 milion tons/year

1993

The second plant started its operations in Bodoquena

Installed production capacity:

0,8 milion tons/year

1997

Acquisition of Cimento Cauê, with plants in Pedro Leopoldo and Santana do Paraíso

Installed production capacity:

2000

Creation of Cementos Yguazú (Paraguay).
Import and trade in the local market

2003

Openning of the Ijaci plant, Brazil

Acquisition of Loma Negra, leader in the Argentinian market. Concession of Ferrosur Roca, railway and transport of products

2007

Letter of Sustainability is published

2008

Purchase of milling company CIMEC, representing the entry of the company to the Brazilian Northeast region.

2009

Construction of plant in Paraguay started


Acquisition of La Preferida de Olavarría, marking the entry in the market of Aggregates in Argentina

2010

Inauguration of the mill in Catamarca, Argentina


Purchase of 33% of Cimpor’s share capital, a company founded in 1896 in Portugal

2011

Inauguration of the mill in L’Amalí, Argentina

2012

PTO and integration of InterCement-Cimpor carried out

2013

Cement mill in Paraguay starts its operations


Leasing of cement production unit in Mozambique (Matola II), totaling the company’s 40th unit

Creation of tagline "Building Sustainable Partnerships"

Inauguration of integrated plant in Paraguay
