InterCement donates preserved area to the National Park of Itatiaia

On the 14th, InterCement’s director of Environmental Development and Energy, Alexandre Citvarasm announced the donation of an area of 210 of the company’s hectares to the National Park of Itatiaia in Minas Gerais. Located in the city of Itamonte, the area has 5 waterfalls, 10 springs and, native vegetation and an open field of Atlantic Forest.

The donation is part of the park’s 82nd anniversary celebration, and it is one of the oldest nature reserves in Brazil. This action reiterates InterCement’s commitment with the environment, the conservation of natural environments and the fulfillment of its mining compensation obligations. Homero de Giorge Ciqueira, president of the Chico Mendes Institute of Biodiversity Conservation (Instituto de Conservação da Biodiversidade, ICMBio) was present at the event and was responsible for officially receiving the donation.
